Car crashes into a Whitefield pub

Fire crews rescued a 60-year-old lady from a car which collided with a pub in Whitefield this morning (Friday July 2010).

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At 9:37am Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a road traffic collision involving a four wheel drive vehicle which had collided into a public house on Bury New Road in the Whitefield area of Bury.

Don't get hooked by phishing scam

A new email scam has been reported by a Bury resident to the council’s trading standards team.

The email, claiming to be from popular money transfer site PayPal, asked the reader to send details of his bank account so they could update their records. It also asked for his date of birth, mother’s maiden name, employer, and card PIN numbers.
